Jaguar Risk has emerged as the new trading name of Algorithmic Insurance Services, Inc., signalling a rebrand for the specialty re/insurance brokerage and consulting firm previously known as LIRG.

The firm provides reinsurance placement, treaty structuring, capital solutions, captive advisory and insurance programme development services to insurers, MGAs, MGUs and other risk-bearing organisations.

Mark Groenheide, Chief Executive of the firm, commented, “Our reach now stretches well beyond Latin America, making it time for a name that reflects our global presence. Besides, people always wanted to pronounce the old name as ‘Lurgh’, which I really don’t like!”

Groenheide added, “The jaguar is an iconic animal who’s fast, powerful, stealthy, and successful. Protection of the natural environment and particularly the jaguar’s native habitat is part of our DNA at Jaguar Risk.

“We’ve had the now-familiar jaguar mascot in our logo since I acquired a majority stake in AIS in 2025. It just seems right to take its name as our own. And, frankly, I am a fan.”

The rebrand takes effect today, with the company retaining its existing team of industry veterans.

The announcement follows a development in March, when Jaguar Risk, then operating as LIRG, signed a Delegated Underwriting Authority agreement with Malaysian reinsurer Mandarin Re.

The agreement gave Jaguar Risk’s platform the authority to underwrite and bind policies and contracts of up to $3 million each, subject to agreed underwriting guidelines.

The scope covers facultative property risks, property treaty reinsurance and Industry Loss Warranty (ILW) structures.

These include both traditional property catastrophe exposures and structured, index-based ILW transactions designed to meet the retrocessional and capital management needs of cedents and reinsurers worldwide.
