Independent insurance broker Lockton has announced the appointments of Christen Thorbjørnsen, Harry Nilsen, Nikolai Jørgensen and Sigbjørn Larsen to its Energy, Renewables and Property divisions in Norway.

Industry veterans Thorbjørnsen and Nilsen join from Willis Towers Watson (WTW) in Norway, where they served as Global Client Directors focusing on property, major oil & gas and renewable energy firms, both onshore and offshore.

Jørgensen brings almost a decade of marine and energy expertise to his new role in Lockton. He most recently served as a broker and trainee lawyer at WTW.

Larsen joins from Bane NOR, described as Norway’s largest infrastructure owner, where he held the role of Head of Insurance. He began his career as an assistant underwriter at AIG in 2000, before joining Hydro Oil and Energy as its Insurance Manger.

These appointments mark the latest additions to Lockton’s rapidly growing Nordic team as it continues to invest and expand its proposition to clients in the region, the broker stated.

Starting this month, the team will be fully operational to service clients effective from January 1, 2024.

The news of these four new additions to Lockton’s Nordic team follow the appointment of Øyvind Larsen earlier this month to lead the country’s People Solutions practice. Just last month, a further senior hire, Johan Frithioff, was announced for Lockton Sweden.

EJ Hentenaar, CEO of Lockton Europe, commented: “Lockton’s tremendous growth in the Nordic region, particularly over the last 24 months, is an incredibly proud achievement for all our Associates.

“I am excited to welcome Christen, Harry, Nikolai and Sigbjørn to our Nordic team, they will bring deep rooted industry expertise to our Property, Energy and Renewables clients, and I look forward to seeing their leadership in driving great outcomes for our clients.”
