Markel International, the specialist insurer, has strengthened its Trade Credit, Political Risk & Surety (TCPRS) operations by expanding the role of Simon Philpin and appointing Victoria Northedge as Assistant Underwriter.
Philpin has worked in Markel’s Trade Credit division since 2014, most recently as a Senior Underwriter, and will now also be responsible for managing new business development across the UK and Europe.
In his new role, Philpin will work closely with Global Development Director Arjan Van de Wall to strengthen the business’s broker relationships and focus on growing with its major trading partners.
As an Assistant Underwriter for the Surety team, Northedge will be tasked with supported Head of Surety Damian Manning and Senior Underwriter David Chandler.
The Surety operation launched just 18 months ago and Markel said Northedge’s appointment will help to reinforce its client servicing and business development capabilities.
Ewa Rose, Managing Director of the TCPRS business, commented: “These are important steps which reflect our ability to grow and develop the team. We wish Simon and Victoria all the best in their new roles.”
Markel also recently expanded its Trade Credit and Political Risk operations in New York with the appointment of Jennifer Chang as Underwriter and Senior Risk Analyst.
