MetLife appoints Brown to Chief Auditor role

Life insurer MetLife has announced the appointment of Toby Brown as executive vice president and Chief Auditor.

Toby BrownEffective March 1, Brown will report to MetLife president and Chief Executive Officer Michel Khalaf on an administrative basis.

As Chief Auditor, he will lead the team responsible for providing assurance over MetLife’s risk management, control and governance processes across MetLife’s global business operations.

Brown is currently executive vice president and chief operating officer of MetLife Japan and was appointed to that position in 2016. He has also served as a member of the MetLife Japan board of directors since 2012.

“MetLife’s audit organization is a critical control function that helps protect and improve the company through objective assurance and advice,” Khalaf said.

Brown succeeds Karl Erhardt, who will continue to oversee a data management initiative that focuses on improving the quality and consistency of data capture to reduce risk and foster innovation.
