MS Transverse, a specialty insurance platform that works with programme administrators and managing general agents (MGAs), has strengthened its Board of Directors with the appointment of Michael Angelina, Bryan Sanders and Kevin Traetow.
The company said the three appointments add significant experience in specialty insurance, reinsurance, actuarial work, underwriting and strategic management to its board as it continues to develop its business and industry partnerships.
“We are pleased to welcome Michael, Bryan and Kevin to the MS Transverse board,” commented John Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Officer of MS Transverse. “Their combined experience across specialty insurance, reinsurance and actuarial risk management strengthens our board as we continue to build our partnership platform and grow our position in the market.”
Angelina joins the MS Transverse board following a four-decade career spanning actuarial, risk management and senior leadership positions within the insurance sector. He is a qualified actuary and holds the ACAS, MAAA and CERA designations.
Angelina previously held the positions of Chief Risk Officer and Chief Actuary at Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Endurance Specialty Holdings, where his responsibilities included global pricing, reserving and risk management. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 16 years with actuarial consultancy Tillinghast.
Angelina has also accumulated extensive board experience, having served on the boards of a number of insurance organisations over the past 14 years, including Coaction Specialty, Equator Re Ltd., Hagerty Inc. and RLI. He is currently Executive in Residence at the Maguire Academy of Insurance and Risk Management at Saint Joseph’s University. He previously led the academy as Executive Director between 2012 and 2021.
Sanders brings more than 40 years of experience across specialty insurance, underwriting, distribution, mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy. He most recently held the role of Chairman, US Wholesale & Specialty at Markel, having previously held senior positions with Alterra Specialty, Hilb Rogal & Hobbs and MacDuff Underwriters.
MS Transverse noted that Sanders is a former president of the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association (WSIA). His industry recognition includes the WSIA Vincent Donahue/Charles McAlear Industry Award and the Insurance Insider US Lifetime Achievement Award.
Sanders is a graduate of Kent State University and holds the Chartered Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations. He also serves on the board of directors of Operation Healing Forces.
Traetow joins the board after retiring from Aon in April 2026, concluding a career of almost 40 years in the insurance and reinsurance industry. His most recent position was US Vice Chairman of Aon Reinsurance Solutions.
During his time at Aon, Traetow also served as Co-President of the company’s US Reinsurance business, with responsibility for more than 900 employees. He held additional senior positions on Aon Reinsurance’s global executive committee and Aon plc’s executive leadership team.
Traetow was involved in some of the market’s largest property catastrophe reinsurance placements during his career. The company also highlighted his focus on client relationships and his role in supporting the development of insurance industry professionals.
Traetow holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Real Estate and Insurance from Minnesota State University, Mankato, as well as the ARe designation.
“Michael, Bryan and Kevin each bring a track record of industry leadership that will serve MS Transverse well as we continue to scale our platform,” added Dave Paulsson, Chairman of MS Transverse. “Their perspectives will be invaluable as we deepen our reinsurance relationships, expand our programme and MGA partnerships and maintain the underwriting discipline that has defined our growth.”
