Munich Re appoints new L&H leader for Southeast Asia

Munich Re has announced the appointment of Aravind Srinivas as Managing Director Life and Health for the Southeast Asia region.

Munich ReHe takes over the role from Tobias Frenz, who will now become Head of Digital Solutions, Life and Health, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Srinivas was previously the Chief Commercial Officer for Munich Re’s Life, Health and High Net Worth business in Southeast Asia, with responsibility for technical pricing, product development, business development and client management in various markets.

Before moving to the Singapore office in 2015, he was Head of Client Pricing in Munich Re Australasia and had held various roles covering pricing, product development and client management.

In total, Srinivas has more than 15 years’ experience in the life insurance industry and worked in consulting and direct insurance in Australia before joining the Munich Re Group.

Frenz, meanwhile, has been with Munich Re for 19 years, having worked in Germany, the UAE, Malaysia and Singapore in various client management and senior leadership roles, including heading its Retakaful business.

As Head of Digital Solutions, heis responsible for further developing the Group’s wide range of digital solutions which span from (re)insurance specific AI and Predictive Analytics solutions through to augmented automated underwriting and claims solutions.

Srinivas will report to David Hughes, CEO, Munich Re Life and Health, Asia (ex-Greater China), while Frenz will report to Daniel Cossette, CEO, Munich Re Life and Health, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. Both appointments are effective from 1 January 2021.
