Munich Re has appointed Mari-Lizette Malherbe as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Munich Re London (Life Branch), the company’s UK & Ireland life reinsurance business, succeeding outgoing CEO Andy Batley.
Malherbe has over a decade of international experience in the reinsurance industry and joined the senior management team of Munich Re London (Life Branch) in 2016, first as Head of Pricing & Marketing and later as Commercial Director.
She began working at Munich Re as an Actuarial Assistant in Johannesburg, South Africa and has since held various pricing and product development roles within the Group.
Malherbe also has a strong actuarial and commercial background in Protection, Longevity and Structured Reinsurance business, Munich Re said.
In her new role, she will be responsible for the creation and implementation of Munich Re’s life reinsurance strategy in the UK & Ireland, and for overseeing all business lines to ensure a strong financial future.
