New York Life appoints Donna Kinnaird to Board of Directors

New York Life Insurance has appointed former senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), Donna Kinnaird, to its Board of Directors with effect from October 15, 2017.

Kinnaird served as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of RGA from 2012 to 2017, where she was responsible for relationship development with top global clients across North America, Europe and Asia and led the firm’s strategy for global integration and organizational planning.

Prior to joining RGA, Kinnaird served for 29 years within the insurance industry; from 2002 to 2012 she held various leadership roles with Swiss Re America, most recently as president and chief executive officer of Reassure America Life Insurance.

“Donna Kinnaird is a seasoned insurance executive with deep strategic experience in the financial services industry that will benefit the Board and our company overall,” said Ted Mathas, chairman and chief executive officer of New York Life, “with her extensive track record in complex operational roles, Donna brings an in-depth understanding of how to best position an organization for success.”

From 1983 to 2001, she held positions of increasing responsibility, including chief operating officer and chief financial officer, at Americo Life.

Kinnaird brings both domestic and international subsidiary board experience to New York Life.

She served on the board of RGA International Reinsurance Company Limited and represented RGA on the governing board of LL Global, an insurance advisory company.

She also represented Swiss Re on the governing body of the American Council of Life Insurers and currently serves on the board of the S.S. Huebner Foundation for Insurance Education.
