QBE names Tay Siang Leng as Interim CEO of Wholesale Markets, Asia

International insurer and reinsurer, QBE Insurance Group Limited, has appointed Tay Siang Leng as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Wholesale Markets Asia, reporting to Rob Kosova, CEO of QBE Asia.

qbe logoSiang Leng currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for QBE Asia, a role he has held since 2019.

In the new role, he succeeds Ronak Shah, who is currently on garden leave until the end of September, and has decided to join MSIG Asia as Regional CEO.

QBE said, “We thank Ronak for his nine years of service to QBE Asia.”

Siang Leng was instrumental in setting up the Wholesale cluster, notes the firm. He also serves as a Board Director for QBE Singapore, India, QBE Asia Pacific Holdings, and QBE Asia Services and is the Board Chairman for QBE Vietnam.

He has assumed day-to-day responsibilities alongside the team in the Wholesale Markets Asia division, and will transition out of his finance role during this period, ensuring continuity for partners and customers, QBE Asia explained.

In the past, he served as Vice President and CFO of Allied World Assurance Company Limited, and as CFO of RSA Insurance in Singapore.

Siang Leng was also the Finance Manager for Asia Pacific at FM Global, Assistant Director, Insurance Supervision, Ministry of Finance at MAS, Accountant at the Ministry of Finance in Singapore, and Auditor at PWC.

QBE Asia continues to focus on its business transformation strategy centred on digitalisation, AI integration, wholesale markets and P&I growth in the region, bolstered by recent appointments in these areas.
