The Reinsurance Association of America has announced two key additions to its board of directors, including Markel Global Re president and Chief Underwriting Officer Jed Rhoads as chair.
Meanwhile, Odyssey Group president and CEO Brian Young has joined as vice chair, with John Doucette, President and CEO of Reinsurance at Everest Re, elected secretary-treasurer.
Rhoads currently leads Markel’s treaty and facultative reinsurance business from offices located in the US, Bermuda, and the UK.
He has held senior positions with Harbor Point Re, Chubb Re Bermuda, Overseas Partners Limited Bermuda (OPL), Stockton Re Limited Bermuda, and Sedgwick Re, Philadelphia.
Young has 32 years’ industry experience, with the past 24 spent at Odyssey.
During this time, he held several senior underwriting and management roles including the oversight of Odyssey’s Canadian, Latin American, London and Lloyd’s operations.
In 2009 he became COO and took up responsibility for all reinsurance and insurance operations worldwide.
Before Everest Re Doucette was head of Enterprise Risk Management for the Group, having joined the Company in 2008 as Executive Vice President.
Between 2000 and 2008 Doucette worked at Max Re Capital as president and CUO of the P&C Reinsurance division, where he was responsible for new products and geographic expansion.
Prior to that, he was an Associate Director at Swiss Re New Markets between 1997 and 2000, a division of Swiss Reinsurance Company.
