Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer SiriusPoint has appointed Steve Yendall to be its new chief financial officer.
The firm said in a statement that Yendall is moving over from Guy Carpenter in Canada and North America where he was managing director. Prior to that, he was CFO and COO at RSA Canada Group. He is replacing David Junius, who the company said was resigning to pursue other opportunities, and will report to Scott Egan, CEO.
Egan said in a statement: “Steve has an accomplished financial background with considerable experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry. He also has a strong track record of leading successful transformational change – he will be an invaluable asset to SiriusPoint as we execute on our short-term priorities and longer-term strategic objectives. I am delighted to welcome Steve to SiriusPoint and look forward to working with him again.”
Junius’s departure comes just over two years after he was named COO of Third Point Re, prior to its merger with Sirius Group and renaming as Sirius Point. At the time, it was predicted that he would transition to the COO role completing the merger.
Egan, meanwhile, has only been in his new role for just a few weeks, moving over from RSA UK & International where he was CEO. He began his new role on 21 September. Previously, he held senior roles at numerous firms, including Aviva, Zurich Financial Services, Brit, and Towergate Broking.
