Swiss Re, one of the world’s largest reinsurance companies, has named Andreas Schäfli, who most recently served as Head of P&C Legacy, as Head of Multiline.
Schäfli joined Swiss Re in 2007 and has since held various roles, ranging from pricing L&H treaties for the Middle East and P&C commutations for EMEA to designing structured P&C reinsurance transactions for Swiss Re’s clients in the US, Germany, and the Nordics.
Most recently, he served as Head of P&C Legacy, where he developed and implemented Swiss Re’s global strategy for retrospective re/insurance transactions, including LPT, ADC, and Legal Finality.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Schäfli commented, “After more than 6 very special years in Legacy, it’s time for a new chapter. I’m excited to take on the role of Head Multiline at Swiss Re.
“Looking back, what I’ll remember most is the people. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with so many talented colleagues, clients, brokers and partners over the years. Thank you for the trust, the challenges, the laughs, and everything I’ve learned along the way. I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together!
“And Legacy made sure to keep me busy right until the very end — we concluded one more transaction on my last day in the role! A fitting way to close the chapter, with more on that to come soon.
“As I approach 20 years at Swiss Re, I sometimes get asked what has kept me here for so long. For me, a big part of the answer is the opportunity to keep taking on new challenges, work with different people and businesses, and continue learning and growing.
“I’m very grateful to Swiss Re for entrusting me with this new opportunity, and genuinely excited to return to the world of prospective reinsurance.”
