Property and Casualty (P&C) insurer the Hartford has named Matt Scott as Head of the northeast division for the firm’s large commercial insurance business.
Scott joined in 1997 and has held a number of leadership positions with the company’s Claims organisation.
Most recently, he was head of the Hartford’s Claims Solutions organisation with accountability for a number of divisions, including legal operations, data analytics, claims sales and service, special investigations, and reinsurance centre of excellence, among others.
“With more than 20 years of experience at The Hartford, Matt is an accomplished leader with an inspiring leadership style and deep knowledge about our Middle and Large Commercial business,” said Ant.
“I am confident he will help us deepen our relationships with our agents and brokers, and continue our focus on providing specialized insurance solutions for our customers.”
Scott will now take responsibility for leading the Middle and Large Commercial sales and underwriting operations for the company’s independent agents, brokers and their customers in the Northeast, which includes the New York City, and Southern and Northern New England regions.
Scott is responsible for leading the reports to Tracey Ant, head of field operations for Middle and Large Commercial insurance.
Prior to joining the Hartford, he was a litigation associate for Cooney, Scully & Dowling in Hartford where he engaged in all facets of insurance defence litigation.
