A new reinsurance pool, set up to help certain Turkish companies labelled too “risky” for the insurance industry, is to be formed.

Turkey FlagThe pool is part of the New Economic Plan, which was presented by the country’s Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak last week.

Reports from the Hurriyet Daily News suggest Albayrak had already signalled for the establishment of a reinsurance model in August and said there would be a pool.

Companies from the textiles industry, as well as dye and chemical plants, have reportedly been voicing their discontent about the difficulty of reaching the insurance system.

With the new model, the reinsurance pool will provide companies easy and cheap access to the insurance system.

The pool will be managed by the Natural Disasters Insurance Authority (DASK).
