Multi-class international managing general agent (MGA) platform, Volante Global Limited, has announced the appointment of Chris Drew, most recently at QBE in Europe, as its Chief Actuarial Officer.
The company has also announced the appointment of Paul Rich, most recently at Barbican Insurance Group, as the firms new Head of Operations.
The twin hires see Volante Global building out its senior leadership team, following on from its launch with significant backing in December and the launch of the first MGA on its platform, Edison Motor, in January.
Drew will look after Volante’s actuarial, analytical and MI functions, in a role covering business planning and performance monitoring, as well as being responsible for the firms pricing model integration and development, and external reporting. Drew will join the Volante Executive Committee and takes a seat as a Volante Global Board Director, subject to regulatory approval.

Before joining Volante, Drew held the role of Head of Actuarial and MI for the Retail Division at QBE European Operations since May 2014. Before that he was Actuarial Manager at QBE, having joined the company in 2004 as Syndicate Actuary for its Syndicate 386. Drew has also worked for RSA, Hymans Robertson and GE Capital.
Volante has also announced the hiring of Paul Rich as its Head of Operations.
Rich will take control of the deliver of central service operations across Volante, and all aspects of group delegated authority management. He will also have oversight of Volante’s coverholder management services to its capacity providers.
Rich was previously at Barbican Insurance Group where he was Head of Operations. Before that he was Head of Delegated Authorities at Aspen Insurance. Rich has also been Chair of the IUA’s Delegated Authority Underwriting Group, and worked at International Insurance Company of Hannover SE and Wildnet Group.
