Arch Re Fac announces exec promotions, Santi Hernandez named CEO

Arch Re Facultative, part of Bermuda-based Arch Capital Group Ltd.’s reinsurance division, has announced several leadership promotions which were effective January 1st, 2022, including the appointment of Santiago Hernandez as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

ArchAll the promotions coincide with the retirement of former Arch Re North America CEO, Ken Vivian, at the end of last year.

Hernandez, who joined Arch Re Fac in 2007 as Head Referral Officer, takes on oversight of Arch Re Fac’s global operations at a time of substantial growth. During his tenure with the firm, he has held various roles, including Executive Director and has served as President since 2017.

Following Hernandez’s promotion, Arch Re Fac has promoted Scott Montgomery to President. He joined the firm in 2007 as a Managing Director, and has held several roles including Executive Director and Head of Hybrid Solutions.

In his new role as President, Montgomery will bring leadership oversight and have a focus on business development initiatives.

Lisa Pickard, who also joined Arch in 2007, initially as an Underwriting Director before transitioning into the Managing Director role in 2011, and most recently served as Executive Director, is now Arch Re Fac’s first Chief Strategy Officer.

The company says that this newly created role has a focus on driving initiatives around innovation and growth.

Arch Re Fac’s new Executive Director and Head of Hybrid Solutions is Mike Karam, who joined Arch in 2008 and has served as Programs Director since 2011. In his new role, Karam will focus on creating tailored solutions that harness the benefits of facultative and treaty reinsurance into one product for Arch Re Fac’s clients.

Finally, the company has announced that Jennifer Apgar, who holds the dual roles of Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO), has been handed the additional responsibility of developing the infrastructure the company needs to manage its significant growth.

Apgar has served as Arch Re Fac CUO since 2007 and added the COO role in 2014.
