Aurora appoints WTW’s Ian Thomas as Head of Product and Insight

Digital platform and managing general agent (MGA) Aurora has hired Ian Thomas as Head of Product and Insight.

handshakeAs Head of Product and Insight, Thomas will be responsible for driving Aurora’s creative use of data with a key focus on the intelligent use of insights to deliver a first-class customer experience.

He joins Aurora from global broking group WTW, where he served as Director of Risk, Insurance Consulting and Technology. Within this role, Thomas focused on improving the application of data across WTW’s insurance consulting and wider practices.

Prior to WTW, Thomas also held reserving, risk pricing and actuarial roles at various insurers such as,  DAS, Ageas and First Assist.

Moreover, Aurora will go live with its first products this autumn. The MGA uses data-driven insights and algorithmic underwriting to benefit all stakeholders in the insurance chain, from insurance providers, brokers, claims management firms and risk specialists, through to the end customer.

In addition, the platform will enable both the creation and design of bespoke policies that will provide targeted, quality insurance cover that meets end customers’ real needs.

Furthermore, Thomas is the latest addition to Aurora’s leadership team following the recent appointments of Carla Havemann, former Partnership Manager at Digital Partners, Munich Re, to Head of Partnerships & Strategy, and Andy Race, former WTW cloud architect, to the role of Head of Architecture and Engineering.
