Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has announced that it has appointed Anselm Waigand as Head of Risk Engineering, Germany.
Waigand was previously Senior Risk Engineer at BHSI in Frankfurt, Germany, having joined BHSI in 2020.
He has more than 15 years of engineering experience at major global insurers, including a 6-year spell at AIG as Field Engineering Supervisor, Germany, Austria, Switzerland.
Additionally, Waigand holds a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from Technical University Darmstadt, Germany.

The promotion comes at a time of European expansion for BHSI, having promoted Shane O’Neill and Ciaran Reddin to the respective roles of head of property and head of professional indemnity and cyber in Ireland, along with the introduction of new Property Damage, General Liability, D&O, Professional Indemnity and Marine Cargo Insurance policies in Spain.
