Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has announced the appointment of Mark Lingafelter as President, BHSI, Australasia. In a move that sees him assumes responsibility from its new President of U.K. & Europe, Chris Colahan.
Lingafelter joins the Sydney-based role after 3 years at QBE insurance, where he served out of Singapore as Chief Underwriting Officer, Asia Pacific.
Prior to that he spent over 11 years as Managing Director at Chubb Insurance Company of Australia.
Colahan, having joined BHSI in early 2015 from RSA Insurance Group as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asia and Hong Kong, will now be based out of London.
Commenting on the announcement, Peter Eastwood, President & CEO, BHSI, said, “With more than 30 years of experience in the global insurance market, Mark is well qualified to lead our ongoing profitable growth in Australia and New Zealand.
“Chris has been a superb leader of BHSI in Australasia, and we look forward to adding his energy and expertise to our expanding European team and operations.”
