Independent specialist re/insurance broker BMS Group has expanded its Bermuda market operations with the appointments of George Bowring from Price Forbes and Kian Wookey from JLT.
The new hires come as part of a build out of BMS’s Bermuda operations and will focus on North American liability and property, respectively.
Bowring most recently served as a casualty producer and placing broker for the Bermudian market at Price Forbes, specialising in complex large risks.
He began working at the Price Forbes in 2011 as part of the U.S Non-Marine team, moving into his more recent role after three years.
Meanwhile, Wookey joins BMS from JLT Bermuda, where he most recently served as head of property, having moved there from Lloyd and Partners in 2011.
He has 17 years’ experience in the U.S property and energy markets, and has worked with a large network of U.S retail brokers over his career.
“BMS has a long history with the Bermuda market; we first opened on the island back in 2002,” said Ian Gormley, Director of BMS Group. “This latest build out enhances our ability to offer choice and local market knowledge on the island rather than remotely.”
He continued: “George Bowring’s experience and relationships will bring an extra dimension to the BMS Energy platform given Bermuda is a critical market for this sector.
“With London market capacity tightening in the property space, Kian’s track record of success in the Bermudian market will be a timely addition to our placement capabilities, benefiting existing clients and creating new opportunity.”
