Coface names Swiss Re’s Carmina Abad Sánchez as CEO for Latin America

Credit insurer Coface has appointed Carmina Abad Sánchez, formerly of Swiss Re, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Latin America Region.

Carmina Abad SánchezSánchez has more than 30 years’ experience holding senior leadership positions in the re/insurance industry, and most recently served as Chairman of Swiss Re Group in Mexico and CEO of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in Mexico.

She will succeed outgoing CEO Bart Pattyn, who is leaving Coface after 17 years with the company, during which time he built a team of leaders across the region that will continue to drive the company’s agenda following the transition.

Before joining Swiss Re, Sánchez spent 25 years at MetLife in Mexico, Spain and the U.S, which culminated in her becoming CEO of MetLife Mexico, a position she held for five years.

Coface said that, throughout her career, Sánchez has shown commitment to the ideals of corporate social responsibility, diversity, and inclusion.
