Hamilton Insurance Group has announced the appointment of Gemma Carreiro from PartnerRe as Group General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, based in Bermuda and reporting to the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Carreiro will assume responsibility for the firm’s legal, regulatory and governance functions, and will also serve on Hamilton’s Executive Committee. The appointment is effective November 20th, 2017, and Carreiro replaces Victoria Guest, who announced her retirement earlier in 2017.
She joins Hamilton from reinsurer PartnerRe, where she was most recently Secretary to the Board of PartnerRe, and General Counsel to the global reinsurer’s Bermuda subsidiaries.
Before PartnerRe she worked for Conyers Dill & Pearman Limited, with a focus on corporate law and a particular focus on insurance and reinsurance regulatory issues.
