Bermuda domiciled insurance holding company, James River Group Holdings Ltd., has announced that Dennis J. Langwell has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors as an independent, non-executive member, effective immediately.
The company confirmed that Langwell has been appointed to the Audit Committee of the Board.
Following this appointment, James River’s Board has now increased its size from nine, to ten directors.
Addressing Langwell’s appointment, Frank D’Orazio, Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Dennis to our Board. Dennis brings extensive insurance expertise and leadership acumen to the Board, having held several executive positions in insurance operations and finance throughout his long and distinguished career. I look forward to working closely with Dennis to continue to generate positive momentum for the Company and our shareholders.”
Moreover, Langwell retired in 2021 having most recently served as Vice Chairman of Insurance Operations for Liberty Mutual Insurance. He joined the firm in 1997 and went on to serve in a number of different leadership roles throughout his tenure. This included as President – Global Risk Solutions from 2018 to 2021 and as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2003 to 2018.
Additionally, Langwell previously worked in finance and reporting roles for Liberty Mutual and other insurance companies and began his career at KPMG (Peat Marwick).
Meanwhile, James River recently appointed Todd Sutherland as Senior Vice President of Underwriting, Management Liability.
In their Q422 results, James River reported a total net income of $15.1 million, compared to a $66.3 million net loss from the prior year quarter. For the full-year, the company also reported a net income of $22.2 million, compared to a net loss of $173 million from 2021.
