US-based insurer Kemper Corporation has announced the appointment of Eric Kappler as Executive Vice President and President, P&C, effective 30 July 2026.

Kemper logoKappler succeeds Matthew Hunton, who has left the company after seven years of service.

In his new role, Kappler will lead Kemper’s unified P&C organisation, including specialty personal and commercial vehicle lines and P&C claims operations. He will report to Stephen J. McAnena, Kemper’s President and CEO.

Kappler brings more than two decades of leadership experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, including expertise in the non-standard auto market.

Throughout his career, he has led large organisations, developed long-term business strategies, built high-performing teams, and navigated changing market conditions.

He joins Kemper after 23 years at Farmers Insurance, where he most recently served as President of Bristol West Insurance, leading a multibillion-dollar business and delivering strong underwriting and financial results by improving profitability, driving disciplined growth, expanding distribution capabilities, and investing in pricing, underwriting, and digital innovation.

“Eric is an accomplished insurance executive with deep experience in our business and an impressive record of delivering results,” said McAnena. “As we execute against our strategic priorities, his leadership and experience will help us continue strengthening our business and positioning Kemper for long-term success. I look forward to welcoming him to our leadership team. I also want to thank Matt for his leadership and contributions to Kemper, and I wish him success in the future.”

“Kemper has a meaningful opportunity to build on its strengths, and I look forward to working with Steve and the P&C team to help move the business forward,” added Kappler. “I have great respect for the people and experience across the organisation, and I’m eager to get started in support of Kemper’s agents and customers.”
