Lions Gate Underwriting, an independent underwriting agency and Lloyd’s coverholder, has announced the appointment of Jairo Medina as Head of Surety and Executive Vice President (EVP) for Latin America.
Based in Miami, he will work to expand Lions Gate’s existing portfolio of products into the surety space.
Medina joins the company from Surety Bonds Underwriters Group, where he has served as President since 2006.
He has more than 35 years’ surety bond experience, with previous roles including Vice President at Folksamerica Reinsurance Company in Miami – a position he held for seven years.
Prior to this, Medina worked at Confianza Insurance Company in Colombia for a total of 14 years.
“At Lions Gate, we have been looking to expand our current portfolio, investing in products and people,” said Pilar Peralta-Ramos, head of Latin American financial lines at Lions Gate.
“Jairo’s extensive experience in and rare insights into the surety bond market will contribute significantly to Lions Gate’s business in Latin America, with clients benefitting from the added expertise of a widely recognised market leader in the field,” Peralta-Ramos added. “We therefore look forward to welcoming Jairo to the team.”
