Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group (LM Re), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has announced the appointment of Tom Spurgeon as Global Head of Cyber Reinsurance.
Spurgeon succeeds Ivonne Staisch, who has left the business after seven years of service to pursue new opportunities.
Based in London, Spurgeon will report to Susan Barber, Head of Financial Risks, Reinsurance at LM Re.
In his new role, he will be responsible for the growth of LM Re’s global cyber portfolio, as well as working with brokers and clients to develop structured cyber solutions.
Spurgeon has been with Liberty Mutual Reinsurance Group for the past nine years and has recently been recognised for his leadership in the International Underwriting Association of London Cyber Reinsurance Committee.
Earlier in his career, he held roles at Catlin and Chaucer Syndicates, and served as Chair of the Cyber Reinsurance Committee of the International Underwriting Association of London from 2022 to 2025.
