Specialist insurer and reinsurer Markel International has expanded the Marine Underwriting team in its Singapore office with the appointment of Wanshi Lin as Assistant Marine Underwriter.
Lin will work closely with Marine Underwriter Gustaf Kristiansson to build Markel’s marine hull, liability, and cargo business in the Asia-Pacific region, and will report to Colin Fordham, Senior Marine Liability Underwriter.
This appointment will both enhance Markel’s underwriting capabilities in Asia-Pacific and support its growth strategy in a core market, the firm said.
Most recently, Lin served as Assistant Vice President, Marine Practice at insurance and reinsurance broker Marsh, where she developed strategies for the company’s marine hull and liability services and worked with direct and facultative reinsurance clients.

Lin joined Marsh in 2011, before which she was Assistant Manager at CIMC Raffles Offshore in Singapore, where she managed builders’ risk insurance for the construction of rigs and specialised vessels.
