Markel International announces renewables reinsurance partnership with AEGIS

Markel International and Associated Electric and Gas Insurance Services (AEGIS) are teaming up to provide expanded reinsurance capacity for onshore renewable energy projects.

markelUnder the deal, Markel International will provide up to $75m in capacity behind AEGIS for its policyholders’ renewable risks.

The reinsurance support provided by Markel will also allow AEGIS to offer over $400m USD in capacity on renewable policies.

Tom Baker, head of renewable energy at Markel International, commented: “We are delighted to work with a company of AEGIS’ reputation and standing, and to have the opportunity to work closely with their highly experienced renewable energy team.”

This is not the only move around renewables that Markel has made in recent months. In November, it announced that it was adding thee people—Charlie Richardson, Sarah McCarthy, and Yong Ruay Heah—to its renewable energy team.
