Mosaic hires Elissa Doroff as head of claims in America

Mosaic has hired Elissa Doroff to be its new head of claims in America.

The firm said that Doroff will over time expand her remit to serve both the US and Canada. She started her insurance career as claims counsel with AIG, and later was cyber and technology product manager at AXA XL. She also has extensive experience advising companies and proactively mitigating risk from her tenure on the broker side, including roles at Marsh and Lockton. Before 2006, she began her legal career in tax with Deloitte.

Doroff said: “Having worked on all sides of the insurance equation, from claims and underwriting to product management and broking, I am thrilled to get back to my true passion in insurance—claims. I value the opportunity to work with such a dynamic team comprised of true industry pioneers. I look forward to contributing to the innovation and success of Mosaic.”

The hiring of Doroff follows another recent addition to Mosaic’s claims team in Rachel Haffenden, who joined the specialist insurer’s London office last month as senior claims adjuster. The division has been led since Mosaic’s launch in February 2021 by Natalie Graham, a lawyer who previously held managerial roles at Syndicate 4000 and Aon.

Graham said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Elissa and Rachel to the team. They each bring a wealth of experience that enables Mosaic to provide highly technical and region-specific expertise as we partner with our insureds throughout all stages of the claims process.”

Tremor - The modern way to place reinsurance

These hires are the latest in a whirlwind of recruitment that Mosaic has been powering in recent weeks. The firm added four employees to its London office at the end of March, two weeks after it put together a cybersecurity underwriting unit to be based in Bermuda.

All of this came after the firm announced in February that it was looking, after a successful first year in 2021, to be ‘focused on the future’.
