Munich Re makes key Business Development hire for Australia & NZ

Munich Re has announced the appointment of Alex François as Head of Business Development for its savings and investment business in Australia and New Zealand.

Munich Re logo on a signBased in Sydney, François will focus on bringing reinsurance capabilities to insurance and superannuation clients in the Australian and New Zealand market.

He will also be responsible for the regional development of new investment management business, with the aim of expanding Munich Re’s savings and investment portfolio in terms of geography, platform structure, and client base.

Most recently, François worked for DWS, the asset management arm of Deutsche Bank, where he focused on public market capabilities, including equities and multi asset.

François has more than 25 years’ experience in sales and distribution across institutional and wholesale markets, and has previously held senior positions at William Blair Investment Management, Provident Capital, Principal Global Investors Australia, Schroders and ING NZ.

Moritz Seibert, Managing Director Investment Management, Munich Re Financial Solutions, commented on the appointment: “Bringing our savings and investment business to Australia and New Zealand alongside our long- standing presence in other reinsurance business lines is an exciting new step for us as a group.”

Munich Re’s Financial Solutions is responsible for the reinsurance of savings and investment products, and focuses on the co-development and reinsurance of new products and the risk management of existing product portfolios.
