SCOR appoints Augustin Gas as CUO APAC FGM

15th July 2022 - Author: Steve Evans

Global insurer and reinsurer SCOR has made a key appointment in the Asia Pacific region, appointing long-standing employee and former retrocession specialist Augustin Gas as Chief Underwriting Officer for APAC fast growth markets.

augustin-gas-scorGas highlighted his new role as APAC, FGM Chief Underwriting Officer at SCOR on Linkedin today.

In the Asia Pacific region, fast growth markets (FGM) are seen as key areas for property reinsurance growth, as exposure levels increase alongside development and growing economies.

Augustin Gas has worked at reinsurance firm SCOR since 2012.

He joined the firm’s Paris office that year and became Retrocession Manager, with responsibility for the reinsurers protection arrangements, as well as working on its sidecar and insurance-linked securities transactions.

In 2017, Gas was appointed Head of the SCOR Property segment in the U.S. Treaty team, based in Chicago, where he stayed for five years.

Now, Gas will lead underwriting in the fast growth markets of Asia Pacific, which is a key role as SCOR looks to continue expanding its reinsurance book into these important markets over the coming years.

The fast growth markets segment includes China, India and Southeast Asian economies, all set to be key growth drivers for a global reinsurer like SCOR.

The reinsurer reported significant growth in these markets at renewals earlier this year, with premiums written increasing more than 14%.
