International insurance and reinsurance broker, Aon, has appointed Steve Bale from Legal & General (L&G) as a principal consultant in its Risk Settlement division.
Bale has 19 years of experience in the life and pension sector, and was most recently a prudential risk actuary covering large UK and U.S. pension risk transfer transactions at L&G, where he spent seven years.
He also held the role as head of longevity risk at L&G for two years, and was responsible for leading both the delivery and approval of pricing, according to an announcement on his appointment.
Senior Partner at Aon Hewitt and head of the Risk Settlement group, Martin Bird, said; “Steve Bale is an excellent fit for Aon‘s growing Risk Settlement team, particularly as we expand across the life assurance and reinsurance markets.
“Steve will work across the Risk Settlement group and also with the growing Life team in Aon Benfield. We are seeing great opportunities to use our deep technical longevity expertise and knowledge of structuring complex deals, alongside the other insurance and reinsurance capabilities within the wider Aon group.”
Bale’s appointment to the Risk Settlement team comes after the additions of Tiziana Perrella earlier in 2017, and Michael Walker and Matthew Fletcher in 2016.
Head of Life Reinsurance, EMEA at Aon Benfield, Colin Dutkiewicz, added; “We continue to see strong demand for capital balance sheet optimisation strategies, particularly following the introduction of the Solvency II regime. Steve’s experience and skills are a natural fit as we further expand across the region.”
