Before Aon, he was a Partner and Head of KPMG’s Insurance Restructuring practice, where he specialised in advisory, restructuring, and insolvency work in the insurance sector for over two decades.
In the past, Gale has advised insurers, reinsurers, investors, and run-off acquirers on transactions across major insurance markets, including the UK, Continental Europe, the U.S., Bermuda, Australia and Hong Kong.
Over the course of his career, he has supported over 50 legacy deals with liabilities totalling in excess of $20 billion and has extensive experience in cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters.
Mike Morrison, Co-Chair, International Financial Centres, Teneo, commented on the appointment, “Barry is one of the most respected advisors in the global insurance legacy market, with an exceptional track record of advising on some of the sector’s most complex and significant transactions.
“His deep expertise across legacy M&A, restructuring, insolvency and capital solutions further strengthens our ability to support insurers, reinsurers and investors as they navigate strategic, operational and regulatory challenges. Barry’s appointment reflects our continued investment in building market-leading capabilities in the insurance sector.”
Dan Butters, Chief Executive Officer, Financial Advisory at Teneo, added, “Barry’s appointment is another important step in the continued growth of our Financial Advisory business.
“As interest from private equity and specialist investors in the insurance sector continues to grow, Barry’s experience advising both carriers and investors on legacy transactions further strengthens our ability to support clients across the full transaction lifecycle.”
