Swiss Re hires Hermant from AIG for iptiQ APAC role

28th May 2021 - Author: Matt Sheehan

Global reinsurer Swiss Re has appointed Simon Hermant to a Vice President role at iptiQ, its digital life and health insurance platform and B2B2C provider of bespoke insurance solutions.

Hermant joins from AIG, where he most recently served as Head of Portfolio Management for Accident & Health, Travel and Warranty in the Asia-Pacific region.

His new role at Swiss Re’s iptiQ will see him continue to look after the APAC market, supporting the firm’s Asian development from pricing and product development from a base in Hong Kong.

Hermant spent nearly three years at AIG, before which he was the Founder and Director at PGM Asia Solutions, an analytics consulting firm with emphasis on data analytics and predictive modelling.

Past roles also include Vice President – Digital Actuary at ZhongAn Group’s Credence business in Hong Kong, as well as Assistant Vice President for Analytics at Guy Carpenter in Singapore, and P&C Actuary – NatCat Analyst at SCOR, also in Singapore.

He began his career doing actuary consulting at ARM Consultants in 2010 before moving on to AXA Corporate Solutions, where he spent nearly two years as a P&C Actuary.

“I cannot thank enough the APAC team for these incredible years,” Herman said on his departure from AIG. “We have initiated a strong shift for A&H business with new impressive analytics capability. Particular thank you to Duane Middendorf for his guidance and mentoring. I have no doubt AIG has a very bright future in Asia.”
