Swiss Re hires XL’s LaRocca to lead Corp. Solutions Property & Specialty lines NA

Swiss Re has hired Michael LaRocca as Head Property & Specialty Lines North America for its commercial risk underwriting focused Corporate Solutions unit.

Michael LaRocca Swiss Re Corporate SolutionsLaRocca was most recently the Chief Underwriting Officer for XL Catlin’s North American Property insurance business, a senior role which saw him overseeing one of the largest U.S. property books of business.

He joins Swiss Re Corporate Solutions effective November 7th 2018, taking on a role with responsibility for the strategy, development and performance of its Property & Specialty Lines portfolio.

LaRocca will be based out of New York and oversee Swiss Re Corporate Solutions General Property, Energy Property, Excess & Surplus Property, Engineering & Construction, General Aviation and Marine teams throughout the US and Canada.

LaRocca has more than twenty-five years of experience in the industry, having held a number of leadership positions and having a strong underwriting and client-focused background.

He joined XL Catlin to lead its North American property business in 2014, prior to which he led an AIG practice focused on property clients requiring large limits in the U.S. northeast, before which he was at Zurich North America leading the property team, and before that at Tokio Marine in corporate risk underwriting.

As a result, LaRocca has a wealth of experience to bring to Swiss Re, in writing and managing property risk business for the largest corporate U.S. clients.
