Directors of the UK P&I Club, a provider of protection and indemnity (P&I) insurance and other services to the international shipping community, have elected Nicholas Inglessis as their new Chairman.
He succeeds outgoing Chairman Alan Olivier, who has held the position since 2013.
Inglessis has been a Director of the UK Club since 2005 and was elected as Deputy Chairman in 2012.
He has also been a Director of Greek ship management company Samos Steamship since 1991, and brings considerable experience to his new role, UK P&I Club said.
As Board Chairman, Inglessis will be supported by Deputy Chairman Nicholas Schues, Paul Wogan and Randy Chen.
“Nicholas is an excellent replacement for Alan as our new Chairman, with vast industry experience and an in-depth knowledge of the Club,” said Andrew Taylor, UK P&I Club Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
“Alan has navigated the Club through a period of industry-wide turbulence following the global financial crisis,” he continued. “Under his leadership, the Club has regained its S&P A rating, increased its capital base and repaid the hybrid bond. We thank him for his commitment to the Club and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
The company added that the election of Inglessis remains subject to regulatory approval.
