Alex Blanco, formerly of AXA XL, has joined Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Vantage Group Holdings Ltd. as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Insurance.
In his new role, Blanco will be tasked with leading the growth and development of Vantage’s insurance operation.
He brings more than 25 years of industry experience across Professional and Specialty lines, having most recently served as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) – Specialty, Americas at AXA XL.
Previously, Blanco held the position of CUO – Professional E&O and Cyber Insurance at XL Insurance, and as a Managing Director of XL Group.
Commenting on the appointment, Vantage CEO, Greg Hendrick, said: “We are very excited for Alex to lead our talented and growing Insurance team at Vantage. His exceptional underwriting acumen, proven leadership ability and informed insights will provide great value as we build out our insurance offerings to address the increasingly-complex needs of our clients.”
Vantage, which was launched in 2020 and commenced underwriting reinsurance risk on January 1st, 2021, has expanded its offering to include select insurance products.
In July of last year, the company acquired an Illinois-based domestic surplus lines insurer licensed in 47 states and renamed it Vantage Risk Specialty Insurance Company.
Earlier this year, Vantage announced the launch of new product offerings within Financial Lines and Professional Liability insurance, as well as new offerings in Healthcare and Excess Casualty.
These two announcements were followed by the establishment of its Construction business, continuing the company’s momentum in its Political Risk business and expanding its distribution capabilities.
