BMS bolsters energy lines team with senior hires

Independent specialist re/insurance broker BMS has strengthened its service offering across its energy lines, naming Alex Collier and Josh Saggers as directors and Andrew Vertigan as a senior account handler.

bms-group-logoBased in London, the trio will assume their roles in May and will report to James Chicken, the Managing Director of Energy Lines at BMS.

Alex Collier holds over 15 years of energy experience, with a focus on physical damage and liability insurance for upstream energy clients.

He joins BMS from Price Forbes & Partners, where he served as executive director of its energy division since 2019.

Here, he designed and placed insurance programmes for exploration and production companies, service and drilling contractors, as well as many midstream and downstream energy risks both in London and in the international insurance markets.

Josh Saggers also joins BMS from Price Forbes & Partners, where he most recently served as director.

In this role, Saggers was responsible for broking a variety of risks into the London, European and Bermudian markets, including upstream, midstream, downstream, marine, general liability, and construction clients.

He began his insurance career in RK Harrison’s energy division in 2008 and collectively has more than 15 years of experience in broking and advisory.

Meanwhile, Andrew Vertigan joins BMS with three and a half decades of experience in the energy sector.

During his career, he has specialised in the independent wholesale specialty space covering downstream energy, renewables, power, and marine, majoring in upstream energy for the past 18 years.

Vertigan joins from Miller Insurance Services, where he served as an energy account handler.

Before this, he held several leadership positions at Marsh & McLennan Companies and Sedgwick Offshore Resources.

In related news, BMS recently announced the additions of Andrew Hutchings and Louise Rothschild to its cargo team.

The pair will be responsible for building out dedicated cargo and stock throughput activities for BMS’ US intermediary client base.
