Canopius Group has appointed Philip Weston as Casualty Treaty Underwriter, where he will report to Paul Western, Head of US Casualty Treaty, who joined the firm in June 2022.

canopius-logoWeston has three decades of London market experience in both international and North American casualty treaty reinsurance business.

He joins Canopius after a 20+ year stint at Faraday Syndicate, where he most recently held the role of Head of International Casualty.

“Philip joins at a critical juncture in Canopius’ growth, as we continue to scale our casualty reinsurance offering. His skillset and extensive network of relationships, grown over a successful, 30-year career in the London Market, complement those of our existing team. I am looking forward to working with Philip and welcoming him to the team which will allow us to access more opportunities and expand our capabilities in the market,” commented Western.

“Canopius is a business I have always respected. I was drawn by the entrepreneurialism of the management team, which is clear from the impressive growth of their book over multiple platforms in recent years, and the opportunity to build the international casualty treaty book and work alongside Paul, who is highly respected in our market,” added Weston.

Additionally, Canopius recently appointed Charity Bare as Group Risk Director.

Elsewhere, it was recently reported that Canopius has partnered with MGA Falvey Insurance Group (FIG), to offer inland marine coverage in the US.
