Karen Montellier joins ArgoGlobal from Endurance at Lloyd’s

26th April 2017 - Author: Luke Gallin

ArgoGlobal, a member of specialty insurer and reinsurer Argo Group International Holdings, has announced the appointment of Karen Montellier as yacht underwriter, effective immediately.

Montellier has more than 25 years of experience in the global marine re/insurance sector and joins ArgoGlobal from Endurance at Lloyd’s of London, and will report to Michael Thompson, hull and yacht class underwriter.

At Endurance she served as a marine underwriter, and over a three-year period substantially increased the size of the firm’s global yacht portfolio. Montellier was previously hull and liability underwriter at reinsurance giant Swiss Re, and has also worked for Eagle Star Re as a marine claims adjuster.

Commenting on the appointment, Michael Thompson said; “Our yacht portfolio is a key line of business for ArgoGlobal, and we are committed to expanding our presence in areas where technical expertise and specialist underwriting act as a differentiator. Karen is a highly experienced underwriter with a proven ability to develop profitable books of business and an established network of close broker relationships.

“By continuing to recruit underwriters of Karen’s calibre to complement our existing expertise, I am confident we will realise our ambitions in this sector. I am very pleased to welcome her to the team.”
